Paula Mendes Luz, MD, PhD
Paula Mendes Luz, MD, PhD (Faculty Mentor) is a researcher at Evandro Chagas Clinical Research Institute (IPEC/ FIOCRUZ) where she conducts research in the epidemiology of infectious diseases. Paula has an MD from Fluminese Federal University, an MPH from Rio de Janeiro State University in Epidemiology and a PhD from Yale University in Epidemiology and Public Health. She has received a joint doctoral scholarship by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) and the Fulbright Foundation. Her major line of research is in epidemiology of HIV/AIDS studying a diverse set of questions relating to HIV/AIDS progression as measured by the clinical, immunological and virological aspects, HIV and non-HIV related morbidity and mortality and the impact of highly active antiretroviral therapy on HIV and non-HIV related morbidity and mortality.
