Kelika Konda, PhD
Kelika Konda, PhD (Faculty Mentor) is based in Lima, Peru and her research focuses on strategies to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) within the local social and epidemiologic context. In 2013, she received a K01 from the NIMH to study relationships between gay men in Peru and to develop an HIV prevention intervention for gay men. The proposed intervention will focus on their sexual partnerships and include couples voluntary counseling and testing for HIV infection.
- Patterns of Partnerships among MSM: Understanding the partnership characteristics and patterns among MSM populations to be able to design better HIV/STI prevention interventions.
- Syphilis infection among MSM: Understanding the patterns of syphilis infection and reinfection in a cohort of high-risk MSM enrolled in an 18 month study with follow-up every 3 months in Lima, Peru.
